HalalPot is a scheduling, notification and record-keeping tool for rotating savings circles (gam'iyya). We are not a bank, lender, insurer, money-services business, or payment processor. We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and we do not hold, transfer, custody or process member funds at any point.
All payments between members happen directly between the members' own bank accounts, outside our system. We only generate the schedule, send reminders, and record what each member tells us about payments made and received. By using HalalPot you accept that the platform is a coordination tool — not a guarantor of any payment, return, or outcome.
By creating an account or using HalalPot you agree to these Terms of Service and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the platform. These Terms form a contract between you and HalalPot.
To register and join circles you must:
A circle organiser sets the contribution amount, the cycle length (number of months), the payout method (random ballot, fixed order, or other supported option), and invites members. The circle starts only once all invited members have accepted and verification is complete.
Each month every member transfers the agreed contribution directly to that month's recipient via normal bank transfer, using the reference HalalPot generates. Each member receives the full pot exactly once during the cycle. Total paid in equals total received — no interest, no premium, no fee from HalalPot.
HalalPot generates the schedule, sends reminders, records when you mark a contribution as paid, and records when the recipient confirms they received it. These records are visible to other members of your circle.
A rotating savings circle relies on every member fulfilling their commitment for the entire cycle. If a member who has already received the pot stops paying, other members can be left short. HalalPot does not guarantee, insure, refund or recover unpaid contributions. We are not a party to the underlying agreement between you and the other members.
What we do when a member defaults: we suspend the member's account, lower their trust score, mark them as in default for future circles, and provide the affected members with the records they need (payment history, dispute logs, contact details where lawful) to pursue recovery themselves through normal civil channels.
By joining a circle you accept this risk. Only join circles with people you have reason to trust, or that you and the other members are willing to accept the risk of.
We may require you to verify your identity (government-issued ID and a selfie) before you can create or join a circle. Verification is handled by a third-party provider. We may decline to verify, suspend, or remove an account where verification fails or where we have reasonable grounds to suspect fraud or impersonation.
Each member has a trust score derived from on-time payments, confirmation behaviour, completed cycles, and dispute history. Your score is visible to other members within any shared circle. A score is not a credit rating and is not a financial assessment — it is an operational signal of how reliably you have used HalalPot.
If you have a dispute with another member — for example a payment you sent that has not been confirmed, or a payment you did not receive — first try to resolve it directly with the member. If that fails, raise a dispute via the platform.
We will review the records on both sides, contact the parties, and adjust trust scores or account status if appropriate. We mediate; we do not enforce financial settlement. Recovery of money is a matter between you and the other member, pursued through ordinary civil means if needed.
You must not use HalalPot to:
HalalPot is a tool, not an adviser. We do not provide financial advice, tax advice, legal advice, or formal Sharia rulings. The rotating-savings model has been used in Muslim communities for generations and is generally considered halal because no interest changes hands — but if you need a binding ruling for your particular situation, consult a qualified scholar.
Nothing on the platform is an offer of regulated investment products, insurance, deposit-taking or consumer credit.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HalalPot is not liable for: defaults or fraud by other members; losses caused by inaccurate information you or another member provides; service interruptions or data unavailability; any indirect, consequential, or special damages.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under UK law (for example liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud).
You can close your account at any time from your settings. Closing your account does not release you from contribution commitments to circles you are already part of — those continue until the cycle completes or until the other members agree to release you.
We can suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if you breach these Terms, fail KYC, default on contributions, defraud other members, or use the platform unlawfully. We may retain records after closure for legal, regulatory, or fraud-prevention purposes — see the Privacy Policy.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the latest version. Material changes will be notified by email at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the platform after the effective date means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
